Tonight’s dinner..Baked salmon with dill, lemon and red onion accompanied by sauteed spinach, mushrooms and yellow rice. Surprisingly easy, really delicious and pretty healthy.

Mmm! Homemade banana bread—my first attempt at such a thing! I wish I could capture the smell of my apartment and post that too! Trust me, it’s pretty heavenly.
This attempt at domesticity comes as a money saving approach. The $5 a day I’ve been spending for my morning coffee and a pastry just wasn’t cutting it budget-wise. So, I’ve invested in a baking pan ($4.99) and a French press travel mug much like this one (but for $9.99 at Tags in Porter Square) and I’ve got the budget friendly version for my morning routine. I’m sure to save some money if I keep this up.
Plus, I’ve already made my Dad proud. “Well, spending that much for coffee makes sense to you,” he tells me. “You grew up in the yuppy generation where people pay $6 for a Starbucks.”  Not anymore, Dad. Not anymore. It’s back to the 50’s for me. Baking will be my new favorite hobby…
